BMJ Podcast Producer
£competitive + benefits
Central London
Part- time
This is an exciting time to join our friendly team and be part of a brand new initiative turning our ad-hoc podcasting activities into a weekly magazine-style podcast. Working with the BMJ Editorial team, you’ll help deliver a high-quality weekly podcast for bmj.com whilst working on other ad hoc audio projects for the wider BMJ Group. Advising on and helping to implement the appropriate technology and studio facilities, you’ll train journalists how to use the equipment, edit audio files and upload the finished product onto our podcast channel. You’ll also set up interviews, organise schedules and broadcast environments to meet diaries and deadlines. Forward-planning future podcast items and suggesting topics, you’ll stay abreast of changes in technology and identify new opportunities to reach our audience as they arise.
Experienced in producing high-quality podcasts, or audio in a radio or other broadcasting environment, you’ll have a detailed knowledge of editing software and an awareness of the legal and copyright issues in this area. Working to tight deadlines and dealing with a wide range of internal and external contacts, you’ll need to combine a can-do attitude and the ability to think on your feet with excellent negotiation, teamwork and communication skills. Experience and knowledge of, or a passion for, science or health would be a distinct advantage and a qualification in a science or medical subject would be even better.
This role is offered on a part-time basis to cover 2-3 days per week. Some flexibility is available as to what days are worked.
