Satellites
In addition to carrying peer-reviewed and indexed supplements to individual BMJ Journals, BMJ Group has recently launched an on-demand publication service called Satellites through the Affinity on-demand publishing program. Typical content includes symposia output, review articles, guidelines and case studies. Approved content is supplied by the sponsor, with editorial management and production undertaken by BMJ Group editorial staff. Publisher approval is required (to ensure relevance to the intended readership, acceptable use of branding and lack of unattributed claims); however, Satellites are not peer-reviewed by BMJ Group or indexed on databases such as PubMed.
Satellites are available in print and online; they publish useful and relevant content of interest to healthcare professionals under the BMJ Group banner. Print distribution is via relevant BMJ Group specialist publications such as Gut, Thorax and Heart, and can be made available for use at conferences and by the sponsor. In addition, Satellites are hosted for a minimum of three months on the BMJ Group site, and banner advertisements are placed on the relevant specialist journal website(s).
