NICE recommends acupuncture for low back pain
NICE guidelines have established a reputation as one of the most rigorous evidence based recommendations on therapy. They issued their latest guideline - on low back pain - in which they recommend a course of acupuncture for any patient whose back pain persists for more than 6 weeks. The evidence from several high quality studies published in Acupuncture in Medicine has shown acupuncture to be much better than usual care.
The BMJ Group began publishing Acupuncture in Medicine in March 2009 as a quarterly title, which aims to build the evidence base for acupuncture. More and more healthcare professionals are learning how to use acupuncture within their practice, and they stand to benefit from the journal’s rigorous approach to research.
