In April 2011, the BMJ-Technology Assessment Group (BMJ-TAG), which is based in the BMJ Evidence Centre, became one of the Centres of Excellence for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) commissioned by the Department of Health National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
The BMJ-TAG is responsible for conducting independent scientific research to evaluate the value of health technologies for the UK National Health Service (NHS).
The BMJ-TAG has expertise in the following areas:
- Systematic review of the literature
- Meta-analysis of relevant unbiased clinical data
- Indirect/mixed treatment comparisons
- Decision analysis
- Economic modelling
- Budget impact analysis
- Interpretation of research and its application to clinical practice
